Supervision FAQs

Clinical supervision is provided to counsellors (students and registered), and those working in the community sector — including pastors, clergy, and chaplains. Whether you're just starting out or well into your career, supervision is a space for support, reflection, and growth.

Yes — registered with the ACA College of Supervisors as an ACA-Accredited Supervisor. Sessions can count toward your formal supervision requirements with ACA, PACFA, AASW, and most other professional bodies.

Supervision is a dedicated space to reflect on your client work, explore ethical dilemmas, strengthen your practice, and take care of your own wellbeing. It's a supportive, collaborative process that helps you grow both personally and professionally. Good supervision isn't a box to tick — it's part of how you stay a good clinician.

Supervision draws on two complementary frameworks:

• The RISE UP model (Dr Phil Armstrong) — covering Review, Information, Support, Education, self-care (U), and Private Practice/Business Building. It ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
• Hewson and Carroll's six supervisory spaces — Reflective, Directive, Evaluative, Passive, Restorative, and Active — allowing the supervision to move between modes depending on what's actually needed in the moment.

• Individual supervision — depth and privacy, at a pace that suits your specific caseload. 60 minutes, $120.
• Group supervision — multiple perspectives, shared experience, and professional community. 120 minutes, $90 per supervisee, capped at 6.

Both formats are available, individually or in combination.

Yes. As of 2026, all new supervisees wishing to take part in group supervision must first complete at least one individual session with Delaney. This allows us to get to know each other and ensures the safety and trust of the group environment for all participants.

Discounted rates are available for a limited number of students and recent graduates — please enquire.

Absolutely. Supervision with Delaney counts toward formal requirements for ACA, PACFA, AASW, and other relevant professional bodies. For ACA members: as per the ACA Supervision Policy (Ver 12, p.10), one 2-hour block of group supervision per month counts in logbooks — regular individual supervision with a primary supervisor is still required.

Absolutely. A trial session is a great way to see if we're the right fit. There's no obligation — simply a chance to get to know each other and explore how supervision might support your work.

A Supervision Agreement is completed at intake by all new supervisees. It sets out the terms of the supervisory relationship — including approach, expectations, confidentiality, fees, and cancellation. A copy can be downloaded from the Policies & Legal page.

The supervision style is relational, reflective, and grounded. The space is used to explore casework, self-care, professional identity, and cultural competency. A particular specialisation exists in working with counsellors whose caseloads include short-term clients and those from Asian backgrounds.
